Home Improvement - Tips and Care For Your Potted Plants

I am sure that you have your own hobbies. For those of you who are keen on gardening, these tips for your potted plant may be useful to ensure that your plants are looking nice and healthy. Unhealthy plants may give the impression of neglect.

Dust and dirt may accumulate on the leaves of your potted plant over the time. Apart from causing the leaves to look dull and dirty, they also clogged pores and prevented the cells to function properly. Your potted plant may become an eyesore instead of functioning as a decoration. Spend some time to cleanse your plant by sprinkling the leaves with water and dry them with damp cloth.

CARE IMPROVEMENT

You need to put some fertilizer to the soil from time to time. Your potted plant needs the fertilizer to replenish lost nutrients to the soil. If you are unsure of the right time to nourish your plant, look for the flower. The best time to fertilize your plants is when they are in bloom.

You also need to care for the root since it also needs oxygen and water. Make sure that the soil is not too firm due to dryness. Check the soil and water the plant as needed - some herbal plants requires frequent watering and the same goes to the plants that you put in the open. Since the soil available in the container is limited (compared to the one on the ground), you need to change the soil from time to time. This is part of the process to ensure proper drainage and enough nutrients to the plant.

Different plants require different amount of sunlight. Some of them need direct sunlight and some may not survive in the hot sun. If you are planting a plant with multiple colors, you may need to expose it to direct sunlight. Begonias, for instance, need sunlight to bloom, but too much sunlight may dry them. If you are keeping the potted plant indoor, just make sure you bring them outside from time to time, or use suitable light bulb to help plant growth.

For those of you who cannot spend too much time looking after your plant, but for some reasons you are keen to keep some potted plants, look out for the types that does not require too much attention. You may consider to adopt cacti or dracaena fragrans (also known as corn tree) since they do not require too much maintenance. And they can be planted in pots!
