Memory Improvement Techniques - Are You Taking Care of Your Brain?

Are you suffering from memory loss? Or would you just like to have that razor sharp memory from your youth? If so, the good news is that a good memory is well within your reach.

Let's start with arguably the most important factor in overall mental health, and that is taking good care of your brain. While it might sound simplistic, there are specific, proven techniques you can implement today that won't cost you a penny. Let's take a look at the specifics...

CARE IMPROVEMENT

First, it's important to realize your brain is just like any other body part, although much more powerful. Your brain needs nourishment. Just like any attribute of the human body, your brain needs to be taken care of and challenged to reach its peak potential. Think of it as a muscle. If you want a toned, trim body, exercise is crucial. If you want a high functioning memory, brain fitness is equally important.

An immediate solution for memory improvement is not often discussed, probably because it's not a miracle cure or filled with hype and glowing promises. But the truth is, one way to improve memory is to examine your personal habits and change them if necessary.

Examine Your Personal Habits

Are you getting enough sleep? Lack of sleep is a major cause of lowered brain function and hence, memory loss. We can't assign a specific number of hours you need to sleep - only you can determine how much you need.

But it's well worth taking a good hard look at your sleep habits. Are you sleeping a consistent amount of hours? Do you have good sleep habits, like a comfortable bed and retiring at roughly the same time? Be honest with yourself to determine if changes are required..

Further, just as good nutrition plays a key role in physical health, the same is true for brain function and memory. You can improve brain fitness by making sure you're eating a balanced diet. Are you getting all the nutrients you need? What about water consumption, are you drinking enough water? All of the good physical health habits apply to brain health as well.

What Else Can I Do?

We're not big on taking pills, so we're not going to suggest you run out and buy the latest herbal supplement. But a good multi vitamin is useful, especially as we age. They're inexpensive and if you take one consistently, you'll notice a positive difference. You'll have increased energy levels, higher brain capacity, and you'll feel better physically.

Finally, another good way to improve memory is to challenge your brain. Sorry, but watching this seasons newest sitcom doesn't make the grade. With a few notable exceptions, watching Tv is passive and doesn't challenge your brain.

Make your brain work instead of kicking it into passive gear. Here's something to try. Instead of relying on your car's GPS, make a point to study the route beforehand and challenge yourself to remember it. You can always write down the directions just in case.

In today's gadget driven and high tech society, we often over rely on technology instead of using good old fashioned brain power. The end result is less stimulation to the brain, which results in lowered capacity and a decrease in memory skills. The less we're forced to use the brain and our capacity for memory, the less likely it'll be there when we need it.

Think of your brain as being just like your heart. Take care of it, use it, and give it a workout. You might even get praised for having a razor sharp memory!

Taking Care of Leather

As we all know, leather is expensive. A good leather bag will set you back 0. Good leather care maintains the consistency and shine of your leather purchase. This article will show you the best techniques on the market to keep your leather looking spick and speck for years to come. All my techniques are natural and will save you money. High quality results are guaranteed.

So what is leather?

CARE IMPROVEMENT

Leather is the raw hide of an animal that has undergone the process of tanning. Tanning adds layers to the hide improving its stain and wear resistance. Being a natural product, leather ages and will fade and soften over time. It is for this reason that leather care is required.

The concept of good leather care is to maintain these layers for as long as possible. Daily wear and tear results in the build up of grime, dust, body oils and food stains which can breakdown the layers in turn changing the condition and appearance of leather.

Care Tips

To keep your leather products looking their best, follow the steps below.

1. Protection

All leather should be protected. Leather is susceptible to absorbing dyes so it is important to apply a protector before wear. A good protector should also be applied regularly to help resist the effects of daily soiling. Choose a good water based leather protector if you chose to purchase one. Otherwise beewax mixed with olive oil makes a good homemade alternative.

To make a protector at home, melt 1 ounce of beeswax with 1/2 cup of oil (almond, walnut, or olive oil) in a microwave or in a double boiler. When melted, remove the mixture and stir. Apply to leather while the mixture is warm.

2. Cleaning

Leather items can be difficult to clean because leather is such a natural product. Saddle soap is a cheap cleaner available from feed or pet/tack stores. Saddle soap works wonders but can be too tough on delicate leathers. For delicate items clean simply by wiping with a damp cloth. Once completely dry, treat your leather with a conditioner.

3. Conditioning

Leather conditioners serve the purpose of lubricating and maintaining the suppleness of your leather purchase. Conditioners should only be used sparingly. Make a conditioner at home using mild baby soaps. 1 teaspoon of baby soap, with a couple of drops of vinegar in a litre of warm water should do the job. Daub over leather and air dry to see results. Remember to never apply conditioners on any suede, metallic, pearlised, embossed or patent leathers and test first before applying.

4. Polishing

Polishing removes fingerprints, dust and water stains from leather. Vinegar mixed with water makes a great polisher. Once finished, add petroleum jelly for shine. Petroleum jelly also prevents cracking over winter. Lemon juice and olive oil is great for buffing hard leathers.

5. Storing

Store your leather items in a cover bag when not in use. Never store any leather items in plastic as they cannot breathe and always store them in a cool, dry place away from heat.

Thanks for reading. I hope this helps. To avoid the hassle, synthetic leathers is a great alternative to purchasing leather. Synthetic leather gives you the luxe leather look without the price or the hassle. Hip Industries sells affordable and stylish mens bags in synthetic leathers.

Taking Care of Your Fence Like It's Your Best Friend

Everyone can appreciate a good quality, attractive fence because of the important purpose it serves for years to come. It offers protection, a barrier from interlopers of the world and your yard, garden, and family. It serves as a measure of privacy, ensuring your yard remains yours. It serves as a beautifier, making a good yard, garden, and home even better, or even making one that might be sub par higher in value.

Everyone loves their good quality fence, but not everyone takes care of it over time. Either they don't care, they don't have the ability, or they just don't know how or what to do to ensure it's longevity. If you want to keep the Best Fence in your city, you need to work hard, and put forth the effort. After all, your fence gives to you every day.

CARE IMPROVEMENT

A large part of the effort goes into the planning at the very beginning of your fence construction. Consideration must be given to the design first, the materials second, and the actual execution of the construction third.

First, the design. You want a fence that is designed with function as well as beauty in mind. Design with longevity in mind. For example, metal posts are a are much more practical design than wood posts. Do you want the metal posts to be on the inside of the fence, which may not give you the most attractive enclosed back yard, but will give you an attractive look to the outside of your property? Or do you want the metal posts on the outside of your fence, which will give you a clean, beautiful look to the inside of your your backyard, but will not have much appeal to the outside of your fence? Part of your decision may be based on what is more important to you....the view that visitors and neighbors have of your property, or the view that you have as you sit in your backyard. Other design considerations may be the color that you choose to stain your fence. Darker colors of stain resist the sun better and protect the wood longer. When you have your Custom Fence built also take into consideration any slope your yard might have, and the height you would like your fence to be. You can choose board on board, or side by side. If you have dogs, would you like little windows to be cut into the fence so your dogs can look out at the world? Some people choose a fence with iron inserts. You can even place some of the iron inserts over the holes that you cut for the dogs. And a beautiful iron gate is a design element that you do not want to overlook. These are just some of the questions that you need to ask yourself when considering the design of your fence.

Next, the materials. Wood will most likely be the primary material, but when looking at wood, make sure your fence company uses only the best quality of wood, and the best cuts of wood. Cedar is a popular choice because of its beauty and its natural resistance to insects. The cut of the wood should have as few knotholes as possible so that the integrity of the wood is not compromised. The only exception would be if you are trying to go for a rustic look. In general, however, wood with less knotholes is stronger and less likely to warp over time. When considering materials, also think about any stains or sealants you want to use. There are stains that have built in UV blockers, which helps to protect your fence from sun damage. You also will have to decide what materials you want your gate built out of. Do you want a custom wood gate, or a custom iron gate? Some homeowners opt for an Electric Gate, which is usually constructed out of iron. If you do choose an electric automated gate, be sure to purchase a wireless keypad to go with it.

Finally, the execution, or the actual construction. Make sure the fence is built by the best fence company in your area. They should have experience, references, expertise, a long list of happy customers, and knowledge for the best construction techniques. A qualified and professional company will be exact with all the measurements required so that there are no gaps in your fence and it fits your yard like a glove. They should plant the metal posts in holes that are at least 3 feet deep and use concrete, not dirt, as a filler. They should place the metal poles within close range to one another, and back up their work with a good warranty in case any fence repair is needed.

Just like anything, if you want the best, you have to do your homework. If you want the best wood fence in town, you're going to have to put forth the effort to choose your fence company carefully, give thought to the design, and make sure only the best materials are used. The fence is an important aspect of your home, so don't take for granted the effect it can have on the appearance of your home, as well as its security. After all, if you're good to your fence, it will be good to you.

Taking Care of Your Knife and Sword Collection

A beautiful collection of knives and/or swords must be taken care of properly in order for it to hold its value. Here are some tips to help you take care of, secure, display and enjoy your collection:

Maintaining Your Blades

CARE IMPROVEMENT

To keep your blades in perfect shape, you will need to perform maintenance on them several times a year. Unsheath the blade carefully and use a soft, clean cotton cloth to wipe the blade. Then apply the appropriate polishing powder or other polishing substance carefully along the blade using the cloth, rubbing it in carefully. Remove any excess powder or oil. Then re-sheath the blade.

You should take care to avoid touching the blade of any knife or sword with your fingers. The oil from your fingers can cause damage to many blades.

Proper maintenance and care of your collection is especially important because a collection can be damaged from improper care or not enough care. Once pieces are damaged, not only will the damage be unsightly, but the value of your collection will take a significant hit.

For easiest care of your collection, consider purchasing a blade care kit, which should consist of oil, polishing liquid or powder, special polishing papers or cloths and a care guide.

Displaying Your Collection

There are many display choices available for showing off your prized collectible knives and swords. From display cases that lock to display shelves, stands and chests. There are options for the smallest knives to the largest swords. When choosing displays for your knives and swords, consider safety and protection. Also consider that proper display of your collection will increase the value of your collection by protecting your collection from damage from handling.

Securing Your Collection

Special care should be taken to protect your collection and your family. If you have children or teens in your family, take care to secure your collection by locking it. In this case, a locking glass case may be appropriate for displaying your collection. A glass case allows the collection to be viewable, but the case can be secured by a lock. Regardless of the age of your children, you should be strict on keeping your collection out of their hands.

Taking Care of Your Zebra Rug

Among the many floor rugs that are sold today, a zebra rug is one of the most interesting. It's an instant reminder of the wild and can transform your room from plain to attractive. Zebra rugs have a timeless classic appeal and look good in any home. Owning a zebra rug means you should know how to clean them. There are many types of zebra skin rugs out there, so know which your type is and take care of it the right way.

The first type of rug is the zebra rug made from actual zebra skin. As this rug can cost you quite a high price, it is important that you know the right way to keep it clean as it is quite an asset to own. For a real zebra skin, you need to clean it about once a week. A regular vacuuming will help keep dirt, sand and dust away from your rug. If there is too much dirt on the rug, you can even give it a good shake. This will let the dirt come off much easier.

CARE IMPROVEMENT

If you have accidentally spilled anything, or see a stain or a spot on it, immediately clean it up. Use mild dry foam upholstery cleaner and a soft washcloth. Don't use any harsh chemicals or use a rough cloth. And avoid scrubbing as this can damage the skin. Air dry it after you have cleaned it. Do not place any heat on it. You should also remember not to place your rug in any area that receives direct sunlight, as the skin may fade or age fast. Also remember to never submerge it in any liquid as this will cause the rug to shrink and in turn destroy the rug.

The second type of rug is the zebra print rug made from hide or skin. For these rugs, a regular weekly vacuuming will help keep the dirt and dust off the rug. For stains or spots, use a simple solution of mild soap and water to get rid of the problem areas. You can even have your rugs steam cleaned, as long as you remember not to soak the backing of the rug.

The third type of rug is the zebra print rug made from wool or synthetic materials like acrylic, nylon and polypropylene. Wool zebra rugs benefit from a vacuuming at least once every week. Any spills need to be blotted and cleaned immediately. You can have your wool rug professionally cleaned every one of two years. The same also applies to the synthetic zebra print rugs.

Taking proper care of your zebra rug will ensure that it retains its beauty and lasts longer.
