Acne is a skin disease that almost affects everybody. A number of adolescents and young adults usually experience it. This type of skin disease is not caused by the food intake, which means that even if you go on a diet to treat it, it will not eventually work. It is not also always brought about by dirt, that is why severe and often scrubbing the face will not solve it. Acne must be treated with care.

Acne can be identified into two groups; one is the red bump and the other are those made up of blackheads and the whiteheads. It is important to know which acne you have since each type is treated differently. Blackheads are open comedones and whiteheads are closed comedones.

Acne is not treated overnight. It is usually treated regularly and consistently. When treating these types it requires time before you can actually see an improvement.

There are several treatments for blackheads and whiteheads. One treatment is the Benzoyl Peroxide, which is good in reducing the clogs in the follicles that brings about acne. Another treatment is the Tretinoin (Retin A) which is a regular treatment for acne. It works by expelling the dirt or clogs in the pores so that it will eventually return to normal.

Antibiotics in the form or topical or oral may be also be used. However, this is only helpful if the blackheads or whiteheads are infected. Antibiotics are not helpful for those without infection. For severe cystic acne, Isotretinoin (Accutane) may be used, but this is not advised for those who have only mild acne. Lastly, extraction may be resorted. This is a process where a comedone extractor is used to expel the plug from the comedone.

Now, you do not have to worry about your acne. There are various ways to deal with it. You just need to find the treatment that suits you best.
