Man's approval means nothing unless you already have God's approval which means eternal life. Many times the temptation in life is to please people at the expense of pleasing God. George Washington said, "If, to please the people, we offer what we ourselves disapprove, how can we afterward defend our work? Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair."
We need to raise the standard by lifting our eyes to Jesus. By asking the question, "What would Jesus want me to do?" or "What would Jesus do in this situation?" By so doing, we will more closely live the life God wants us to live. By pleasing God, we won't always please our fellow man. But what is more important: pleasing the Creator of the universe who holds your life in His hands or some imperfect human being walking on God's earth?

Let me remind us though, that we don't gain God's full approval by doing the right things. Doing all the right things won't get us to Heaven. We can't earn our way to Heaven. Heaven is a gift. A gift we can receive only through the blood of Jesus Christ. God loves us so much that He sent His own Son Jesus to earth to die on a cross for our sins. Jesus took upon Himself on that tree all the terrible things you and I have done, said, or thought. Because of Jesus, we have God's full approval. Have you given your life to Jesus Christ? That is the only way you and I can please God.
